About the Educational Eco Farm: The huge park surrounding the summer residence of the last Polish king. A must-see on your Warsaw bucket list, every season of the year. The Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów in Warsaw is a baroque summer residence of King Jan III Sobieski and his wife, Queen Maria Kazimiera. Not everyone knows that the area next to the Wilanów Palace is 45 hectares! You will find there not only modeled palace gardens in the baroque style, but also a river and a huge landscape park. The Garden is located on the roof of a new building of the University of Warsaw Library (in Powiśle) and is one of the largest roof gardens in Europe. From the top, you will have a wonderful view of Warsaw, including the Vistula river and the Palace of Culture and Science. The library Garden has two parts: the upper garden on the roof and the lower garden where you will find the ponds, the fountain, and the granite sculptures. The Kampinos Forest (Puszcza Kampinoska) is located right next to the northwestern border of Warsaw. Most of its area is protected within the Kampinoski National Park (Kampinoski Park Narodowy). This is very unique on a global scale – the national park borders on the capital of the state! Visitors can enjoy here 350 km of hiking trails, a 200 km long bicycle trail, horse trails, 10 educational paths, 19 parking lots, and 12 rest areas located on the edge of the park. Many of Warsaw’s libraries offer books not only in Polish but also in other languages – books for both adults and children. For example, the biggest library in Warsaw offering books in different foreign languages (located in Praga, Meissnera 5 Street, Facebook page, website in Polish and English) has over 50,000 books, audiobooks, and films, including books for children and teenagers. Most of their collection is in English but there are also books in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Croatian. The average temperature in October in Poland is 9°C / 48°F (just like in April). The average rainfall level in Poland in October is 46 mm (lower than in September). The Polish name for October – październik (quite a tongue twister, isn’t it?) comes from the word paździerze meaning the dry stalks of flax. In October, days in Poland get noticeably shorter and in this transition month, you can be surprised how early the sun goes down in the evening. The length of the day goes from 11 hours 35 min. on October 1 to 9 hours 39 min. on October 31. Sunrise in Warsaw on October 1 will be at 6.37 am, sunset at 6.13 pm. Sunrise in Warsaw on October 31 will be at 6.30 am, sunset at 4.08 pm. October gives us the last chance to admire fall foliage in Poland or collect with kids chestnuts and acorns. In late October, the leaves wither and fall of the trees. Do not delay – use every day with nice weather for walks, to delight in the last days of ‘Golden Polish Autumn’, and to charge your body batteries before winter. The largest indoor water park in Europe, including 18 pools with a total surface of 3500 square meters (a tropical pool, a thermal pool, a giant wave pool). Attractions for kids include 30 slides with a total length of 3,5 km, a paddling pool, a heated water playground, the adventure river, playgrounds. Whether you love classical music and Frederic Chopin’s compositions or not, the Żelazowa Wola village is the must on your “to visit list” in Poland (it’s just 55 km from Warsaw). And it is because of the most beautiful park that surrounds the birthplace and the Museum of Frederic Chopin. In Poland, there are for sure bigger parks, but the one in Żelazowa Wola seems just perfect. The park was developed in 1932-1939 and renovated for the 2010 Chopin Year Celebrations (200th birth anniversary). It has new paths, benches, bridges (the Utrata river flows through the park), ponds, pergolas – everything very elegant and modern, but modern in a good way – that brings comfort and is visually unobtrusive. Also, this is not a regular park – everywhere you can hear Chopin’s music, played quietly from BOSE speakers hidden all over the park in bushes, grass or ivy. Konstancin-Jeziorna (Konstancin for short) is a town located 20 km south of the center of Warsaw, on the Jeziorka river. It is the only health resort / spa town in the immediate vicinity of Warsaw – Konstancin has a distinctive microclimate associated with the surrounding pine forests and natural deposits of healing waters. The central place of Konstancin is the Park Zdrojowy, nicely renovated and revitalized in 2012. The park is friendly to children in prams, there are two playgrounds (for younger and older children). You will find there lots of alleys, paths, benches, a wooden footbridge with viewpoints leading through the pool. The park is worth visiting also outside the weekend, during the week it is extremely calm and pleasant there. The graduation tower (Tężnia Solankowa, also known asa thorn house) is a unique place located in the park. It is an open-air ‘inhalatorium’ – a huge natural inhaler. It’s a wooden structure, covered with blackthorn branches that were originally used in the production of salt. The exhibition shows the development of space flights from the first historical attempts up to today’s missions. It features 200+ original objects from the United States, Russia, and Poland. There are 2 versions of the audio guide: one intended mainly for adult visitors and high school students. The second version is simplified and fun in the form of a boy-astronaut conversation, this version is suitable for children under the age of 14. Location: Centrum Praskie Koneser, Plac Konesera (Praga). Online tickets. The bespoke touring exhibition will provide fans of all ages with multiple touch points to interact with the NBA. Location: Wodny Park Warszawianka, Dominika Merliniego 4 Street, 02-511 Warszawa (location on Google map). 4 km from the city center (in the Mokotów district). The recreational part of the Water Park includes a recreational and swimming pool with a maximum depth of 1.40 m, a paddling pool for children with an elephant-shaped slide, an artificial river, pipe-shaped slides (45 and 72 meters long) with separate landing pads, an open slide inside the swimming pool hall (15 meters long), outdoor year-round heated pool, connected to the main pool hall. Location: Centrum Nauki Kopernik, Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 20 Street (Powiśle). The largest science center in Poland. A great idea to spend time indoors for both children and adults. When planning your visit, remember that 2-3 hours at the Copernicus Center is a minimum! Location: the Planetarium building next to Copernicus Science Center, Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 20 Street (Powiśle), online tickets. The Planetarium screens films for adults and kids at a different age – some for 3+ audience, and some shows for teenagers (2D and 3D screenings). Location: Mini Zoo, Kolorowa 19/156 Street, poziom/level -1 (Ursus), Monday – Friday 11 am – 7 pm, Saturday – Sunday 10 am – 6 pm. At the Mini Zoo, you can feed and stroke the animals. The visits take place in the company of a Mini ZOO employee who will show and teach how to deal with animals. Location: Państwowe Muzeum Etnograficzne, Kredytowa 1 Street (city center). Free entrance on Thursdays. Opening hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10 am – 5 pm, Wednesday 11 am – 7 pm, Saturday 10 am – 6 pm, Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm. The new permanent exhibition is the culmination of a project aimed at modernizing the historic building of the Museum. The exhibition presents the cultural heritage of Africa and Asia gathered in the Museum’s collection. The stories tell about the past, about how these continents were seen through the collections of the Museum created in the 19th and 20th centuries. 1,300 objects are displayed on the museum’s two floors. Each weekend (every hour on the hour), the visitors can hold a spider (the most gentle tarantula) in their hand and take close photographs with the assist of an exhibition employee. October 2, 3, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31. Location: Tor Wyścigów Konnych Służewiec, Puławska 266 Street (Ursynów), online tickets (children up to 5 free entrance). The Służewiec Horse Racetrack is not only a horse race but also an important monument in Warsaw – the track was opened in June 1939, at that time it was the most modern and largest horse racing track in Europe. Of course, you don’t have to play sports betting if you don’t want to. It’s fun to watch the horses (sometimes you can even get up close), the children can play on the playground, you can eat something, and the race area itself is a huge green space! It is also worth paying attention to the kilometer-long wall separating the area of the Racing Track from Puławska Street, which has become a street gallery of Polish graffiti artists. Horse racing in Warsaw takes place almost every weekend, from May to mid-November. Race weekend calendar. How to get there? The easiest way to get there is by car, through the main gate at Puławska Street, where there is a large parking lot. You can also take tram no. 4 or 10 to the terminus. Website in English.

In Polish schools, there are no regular classes on this day. Students give teachers flowers and/or other gifts. Usually, there is the inauguration event for first-grade students (called in Polish ślubowanie) and older kids either do not go to school or have some fun activities.
On Sunday night, October 31, at 03:00 am clocks are turned backward one hour to 02:00 am. The European Union lawmakers decided to end the twice-a-year (March and October) custom of time changes throughout the European Union, leaving member states the freedom to decide their standard time. The national governments have yet to take a stance – the coronavirus pandemic has pushed the issue of changing the time into the background. Halloween celebrations are relatively new in Poland. A few years ago, it was almost impossible to buy a pumpkin this time of year in Poland! Now pumpkin carving and pumpkin decorations are more and more popular at Polish schools and homes. In bars and restaurants in Poland, there are themed Halloween parties for adults and costume parties for kids at schools.
